Pinellas County's EMS ordinance includes promoting citizen CPR and other public health education and training. Sunstar offers a free CPR classes each month, for the general public.
All of Sunstar Paramedics instructor’s are certified through the American Heart Association so they are trained with the most up to date information to meet the needs of the citizens of Pinellas County.
American Heart Association Family & Friends Course
The Family and Friends Course is designed for all lay rescuers, such as school children, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, and other laypersons who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones.
This course comes with an easy to use and refer to booklet with a completion card in the back of the book. There is NO certification card with the course.
Courses Available the 3rd Saturday of each month
- Course books and pre test are available for pick up prior to the course at Sunstar. Go to the 2nd floor reception area, which is to the right after you get off the elevators and ask for Doreen Schomp between the hours of 8-5 Monday-Friday phone: 727-582-2068
- All Course completion cards will be mailed the following week - after successful completion of the course.
- Course costs may be adjusted during the year as new 2010 curriculum is rolled out.
