Sunstar Paramedics goes red to promote heart health

Sunstar Paramedics employees wore red today for National Wear Red Day, which helps raise awareness about the importance of heart health. The observance is part of the American Heart Association’s American Heart Month, which raises awareness about heart disease and educates the community about prevention.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and can often be prevented. A healthy diet and regular exercise are key for a healthy heart. People with high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and who smoke or drink excessive amount of alcohol, are at the most risk to suffer from heart disease.

Regular check-ups with your doctor and healthy lifestyle habits can dramatically decrease your chance of experiencing a heart attack, stroke or cardiac arrest.
