Providing comfort in tragic situation

November 30, 2014

November 2014 portraitOn November 18, paramedic Robin Webb and Tsambika Aysh, EMT, responded to a call involving the death of a woman. During the call, they learned the woman’s son had a birthday on the following day, and he would be turning 13.

Webb and Aysh wanted to give the boy a birthday gift to try to ease some of his pain and allow him to feel a bit of normalcy in the wake of losing his mother. They created a care package containing toys and candy for the boy and brought it to him the next day.

While this day will always have painful memories, Sunstar hopes that the compassion and extraordinary kindness shown by Webb and Aysh will shine a bit of light on the occasion.

The Sunstar Care Plus Award is an internal award used to recognize employees for their excellence in patient care, professionalism and efficiency. Award winners are nominated by their co-workers and selected by Sunstar’s employee engagement and retention committee.
