American Ambulance Association honors Damian Gonzales and Joshua Daly with Stars of Life award

LARGO, Fla. (June 28, 2018) – Two Sunstar Paramedics employees, Damian Gonzales and Joshua Daly, have received the American Ambulance Association’s Stars of Life award, which recognizes ambulance service professionals for outstanding service and dedication.

“Damian and Joshua show tremendous leadership in their respective roles,” said John Peterson, chief operating officer of Sunstar Paramedics. “We’re very fortunate to have them on our team, and we’re pleased they’ve been recognized for their hard work and commitment to the EMS profession.”

Gonzales is a clinical services coordinator at Sunstar Paramedics. He performs clinical data analysis, and manages the field training officer (FTO) program and clinical education for the new emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics.

He was honored for increasing Sunstar Paramedics’ use of data analysis to improve patient satisfaction and engagement and other service areas. He recently initiated the FTO report card, which provides clinician-centered data and feedback to ambulance crews. The report card is sent to employees to help show them a clear path for improvement in clinical excellence and a higher quality of patient care.

Daly, a paramedic and alternate supervisor, was recognized for his leadership and dedication to the advancement of the EMS profession. He has held several key positions at Sunstar Paramedics, including FTO, continuing medical education (CME) instructor, and safety officer. Throughout his career, he has mentored employees and served as a role model to senior professionals, as well as an inspiration to EMTs and paramedics just beginning their careers.

Gonzales and Daly were among 100 emergency service personnel recognized during the Stars of Life Celebration in Washington, D.C. on June 11-13.
