First Care First There in Gulfport

The greatest opportunity to save a life in an emergency happens in the first few minutes. Sunstar Paramedics arrives quickly, and there are ways to help before paramedics and EMTs arrive. The life you save may very well be the life of someone you love.

Cardiac arrests, mass shootings and opioid overdoses are three emergency situations that anyone may face. Knowing how to perform hands-only CPR, use a tourniquet and administer Narcan can save a life.

Sunstar Paramedics can teach you how to save a life through a new program called “First There, First Care.” The free 2-hour course teaches people who are near an emergency how to help until paramedics and EMTs arrive.

The free session covers how to:
– Perform hands-only CPR
– Operate an AED
– Stop life-threatening bleeding (i.e. accident or gun shot wound)
– Administer Narcan in an opioid overdose

Upcoming sessions:
POSTPONED: Monday, March 30, 3-5 p.m., at Sunstar Paramedics, 12490 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Past sessions:
– Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 at Gulfport Senior Center, 5501 27th Ave S in Gulfport.
