Sunstar ambulances refurbished in Texas

Sunstar Paramedics director of support services Philip Young spoke with Tyler, Texas TV station CBS 19 about the process of “re-mounting” an ambulance. Sunstar Paramedics refurbishes and upgrades its ambulance fleet through Fleet Plus at the East Texas Medical Center.

An ambulance’s wheels, frame and cab need to be replaced after 300,000 miles, but the back unit – where patients are transported – is still functional. Fleet Plus updates the back unit with new technology and places it on a new frame with new cab, wheels and other mechanical parts. The process saves time and money for Sunstar Paramedics, and in turn, Pinellas County.
