Sunstar team-members recognized for their compassion

January 11, 2016

The December 2015 Care Plus Award has been presented to EMT Brian Smith, and Paramedic Chuck Walker who went above and beyond patient care recently on a call with the Tarpon Springs Fire Department. They were nominated by the Fire Department for the compassion they demonstrated on the scene.

The patient they reponsed to was wheelchair bound and had a cut on his foot that had bled through-out the patients house as he made his way to the door to let the responders in. After determining that the patient did not need to be transported, Paramedic Walker and partner- EMT Smith grabbed their cleaning spray and went to work. They wiped up and mopped the patients floors where he had bled so the patient would not be burdened with the clean up after they left. This crew exemplifies Sunstar’s values of being attentive to human need, respectful and understanding.
