Sunstar’s Jay Horne and Christopher Jennings receive Commissioner Morroni Award of Excellence

January 24, 2014

On Friday, January 24th, Sunstar’s Jay Horne and Christopher Jennings were honored with the Commissioner Morroni Award of Excellence. The award was presented during the 19th annual luncheon honoring first responders.

Jay and Christopher were nominated for the award based on their heroic efforts to help save Ireland Nugent. Ireland lost both of her legs in a lawnmower accident on April 10, 2013.

Christopher lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident in early July, just six weeks after reuniting with Ireland and her family. Christopher’s family traveled from Georgia to accept the award on his behalf. The Nugent family also attended the event, celebrating the compassionate care exhibited by both gentlemen.
